mytuber81,
(Continued from Comment Section)
Initially, I called just to see what Weider would say about the pulleys. I was actually expecting some bs answer and that I would just be told that there’s nothing they can do about it. When they put me on hold, I was actually thinking that the CS rep was just trying to get rid off me. They didn’t explain that they were transferring me the returns department so they could send me out a new one. Not knowing this, I was pretty close just hanging up, but I didn’t. My intention was never to call and demand a free replacement unit. And like I said, I was very polite and patience the entire time. I don’t know how things would have gone otherwise.
Polentaccio,
You can do those types of moves. If you look at the promo, you can see that they are using only 1 band at a time. They had to go with a lighter resistance because they were going to be shooting the promo over a period of time. But if I were to use 2 or 3 bands, then it becomes a lot more difficult. Power is a very relative term here. What might be a power workout for me, might not be a power workout for you. Unfortunately, I don’t know any of my weightlifting stats to give you as a comparison. Obviously, there’s more than enough resistance for the smaller muscles in the body than there is for the larger muscles, but there’s always ways to work around that. For example, when I do pushups, I tend to over use my triceps. So instead, I’ll do a single arm chest fly with the X factor with heavy resistance. I contract my chest muscle in a way that seems most natural. And because I’m using the bands instead of dumbbells or a cable machine, I actually have more resistance when the muscle is fully contracted than with the other methods.
AngeloCusipag,
Yes, I got to keep the old one. But it really does make a lot of noise now that I have the new one. And as you can see from the video, it doesn’t have as much resistance. I still have it. It’s not even worth giving it to anyone. Actually, to add to what I said before, I took the 60 lb bands from the old one and put those in place of the 15 lb bands of the new one. I didn’t realize it would change the increments from 15 lbs to 30 lbs, not to mention the noise was just too loud. Needless to say, I changed it back. Not to mention, I’m keeping the old one just in case I come up with some crazy ideas.
jdfocused,
Again, I don’t know all the specifics, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

I had a problem with my X-factor in that I got two right sides. I called weider and got a replacement, and noticed the tensions were very different between the first vs second set, especially in the 60lb band, it is very noticable.

You might want to try some WD-40. When I got my new one, some of the pulleys were still making a slight squeaking noise. WD-40 fixed that, but if the pulleys themselves are badly manufactured, then WD-40 won’t fix that. In regards to the resistance, it might be that your bands were cut longer than normal. You can shorten them, but I don’t recommend it. Take the frames off the door, straighten the bands, and measure them from end to end. Let me know those measurements and I’ll get back to you.

Okay, I received a 2nd X-Factor sender from Weider no charge. I was very excited until I tried it. Only the 15 lb top band is making popping sounds.Noticed that round smooth screw was turning & none of the other screws move on the other pulleys. I wonder if that’ the problem. Plus the resistance on that one is much lighter
anyone have any suggestions esp since customer service sent a new one for free. do i just deal with it or maybe exchange my other one @ sports auth & see how it works.

If I had not found your page, I would not have known that the X-Factor was not supposed to make those squeaky noises.
I purchased mine a month ago and after reading your comments, I was on hold w/Weider a very long time today but got a very nice lady in Customer Service. Told her that I purchased @ Sports Authority. She told me to send a copy of the receipt and she would send another X-Factor. Also said it sounded like a pulley issue. Will see what happens but hope she comes thru.

Have you looked into returning it. I’ll have to call Weider and verify this, but I think if? you’re outside the retailer’s return period, and still inside the 90 day manufacturer’s warranty, then you should be entitled to a product that is free of defects. And if you have bad pulleys, then that falls under that category. I don’t know the exact steps and requirements for every situation, but it’s worth a try, if in fact someone does actually have a defective product.

2010 Mar 08 7Good Video, I …
Good Video, I bought my X-Factor from Dicks sporting good about a month ago and it has the same exact annoying problem with making that loud clicking noise. In the commercials its as quiet as a mouse, but the ones they sell for mass production are cheaply and quickly made. Plus I had to sand down a small portion of the corners of my door frame to fit the X-factor on my door. It does NOT fit ALL doors. If anyone else has these problems call up Weider directly instead of where u purchased it.

I bought mine directly from Weider. If you bought yours from somewhere else, you will have to deal with them. And chances are you will have to return it. You might even have to return it even if you got it from Weider. When I called they first verified my order, then I had to wait on hold for a while, then they finally put in an order for a new one. I fully explained everything to them and I was very polite the entire time. Don’t try to scam them for a free X factor. It won’t work.

Couple of questions.. the promos show them doing some pretty dynamic exercises like jump squats with a shoulder press or overhead squats while you jump into low squat. have you tried any of these exercises with the bands and do they actually have enough resistance to give you a good power workout?
