A. increase the frequency of action potentials sent to the leg muscles
B. increase the number of thick & thin filaments during contraction
C. stimulate more motor units to contribute to the muscle contraction
D. both A and C
E. both A and B

D. both A and C

Both increasing the frequency of action potentials and stimulating more motor units contribute to increased strength. The body DOES NOT increase the number of thin and thick filaments.

It is D. You can’t control the amounts of thick and thin filaments, unless you take a type of muscle relaxant or tightening pill. The action potentials are one way to control your leg strength. If you use more motor units, your muscle can expand or contract a lot easier. So your answer is D.
