When you lift weights for a long time using a certain weight (e.g. 20 lbs dumbbell), and your body gets used to that weight to the point that your muscles do not get sore any longer, do you have to increase the weights in order to maintain the same body that you achieved using that particular weight? i understand that to build further mass/muscle, you have to get your muscles sore (meaning increased weights), but what if you want to maintain that certain body and go no further?
umm no you dont have to get your muscles sore so basically the body that you have while lifting 20 pounders is the body you will have if you keep lifting 20 pounders for ever when muscle grows it’s because an abnormal/stress that exceeds what it normally encounters is forced upon them so they are forced to grow in order to adapt and be able to manage the weight comfortably. the body is also adapting so if you use less weight you’ll get smaller if you use the same you;ll stay the same and if you use more weight youll get bigger
